Good meet today. Quiet, but good. We only had one non-admin crew volunteer come out, but fortunately the fire safety workshop took a lot of members out into the drizzle and away from Tara’s beleaguered attention. We learned what safety precautions must be observed while spinning at the BNC, how to properly snuff a fire prop, and how to use a fire extinguisher.
A couple of high points for me from today: Jamming with Gord Yurkowski on a drum from Prairie Gypsy, and seeing our youngest member put out a fuel fire with a fire extinguisher.
Our next official meet is scheduled to take place in the green space outside of the BNC and in the hockey rink for those spinning fire. That means outside! While I’m hoping for nice weather as much as anyone, if it’s raining we’ll move the meet inside, so we’re practicing no matter the weather. Don’t forget to bring water and sunscreen if it’s nice out. Second to having to go to work, nothing ruins a Monday like a nasty sunburn.
Brett Hogan has taken it upon himself to organize meets on the off weeks from our regular schedule. There won’t be any of our loaner equipment there, but they’ll be great chances to get outside and practicing with friends. I’ll probably see you there next week!
That’s all for now. I hope everyone has a good day off tomorrow!
